2026 Spring Picnic/Championships Recap
We had our first Champion’s League Championship between Tuesday’s Lawn Legends 8-0 and Thursday’s Blue Herons 8-0.
Blue Herons were on fire and won 17 to 6. Lawn Legends started to find their rhythm late in the game but it was too late to make up an early deficit.
Thursday’s Los Vatos Locos (8-0) won the Premier Championship over Tuesday’s Bocce Blasters (7-1) by the score of 17-12. The game went back and forth early with Los Vatos Locos always maintaining a slight lead. They broke away and got to 16 but the Bocce Blasters won several late frames before Los Vatos Locos clinched their 17th point and 6th championship. It was suggested by an anonymous observer that their team name should more appropriately be Gran Mujer (Great Woman) and The Los Vatos Locos! 🙂
Before the start of the Spring Premier League Championship game attendees gave a moment of silence to honor Ran Crawford who passed away this year. Ran was a beloved member of the community and was a registrar for our league and a member of the Holy Rollers. Ran will be greatly missed and in our hearts.
I want to thank all the volunteers and others who make this day possible with a special thanks to Frank Hurst the founder of our bocce league.
Special thanks for my fellow officers…Treasurer Kathy Blyman, Technology Officer – Jenny Freebery, Registrar Jane Nightengale.
Martha and Zack from Happy Chicken provided our wonderful meals and Jackie from Lockbriar Farms for the delicious ice cream and Stuart Gray for the music and audio.
I want to thank my wife Kate Mason, Nancy Bennington for helping with tickets and Ellen Hurst for handing out food.
Last but not least I want to thank all the captains for all their hard work and our announcer for today’s Premier League Championship game Lou Costanzo and Tailor Bob Moores.
Have a great summer and look forward to seeing all of you in the Fall.
