BOCCE EQUIPMENT ETIQUETTE
PLEASE NOTE: Each item (bags and reels) is numbered. Please place your equipment in the correct numbered trunk. The three trunks are labeled Bags 1-5, Bags 6-10 and Bags 11-15. Please return your bags and equipment to the correct trunk. Should you find an item missing or broken from a bag or spindle, or in need of repair, please place the item in the black bag in trunk 11-15 and notify the League’s equipment manager Freddy Araujo (Team- Los Vatos Locos) or Jim Mason following your game. The only exception to this is if when setting up you find you need to replace a lawn staple, you may discard the bent one(s) into the black bag and find replacements in the low black trunk in a white bag. When closing the black trunk, please be sure the hasps are outside the trunk before locking. If you are the last team to put a bag in your trunk please lock up. If you are the last teams playing please help out by making sure all equipment is away and the trunks are locked.

In the right-hand trunk are the ball sets which include the 8 bocce balls and the pallino, all of which need to be placed in the blue bag upon completion of your game.
As noted, each ball bag has a number. This corresponds to the number of the match for the evening. First person opening the trunk is asked to remove the top layer of bags and to place them outside the trunk. Then he / she should find the numbered bag corresponding to the number of their match and take it for set up. In this way, when their opponent arrives and looks for the number for their game and find it missing, they will know it is already out on the field and being set up for play.
This process should eliminate the problem of multiple sets being removed by teams playing one another.
Upon completion of the match, please place the ball sets back in the trunk. You do not need to put them in any specific order, since the first team to use the balls the next evening will remove the top layer of bags and the process will begin again. Make sure if you are the last team on the field returning the equipment to the trunks that all are correctly closed, locked and combinations spun.

In the left-hand trunk you will find the side ropes tightly wound around their reels with loose ends secured by the Velcro strap provided. A bag containing the white middle rope and yellow end ropes neatly wound along with the 6 lawn clips within their own smaller bag will be found on the right side of the trunk. These items are to be replaced as found – reels to the left and small bags to the right.
Within the left-hand trunk you will also see a tube containing the small red flags which are used for marking the pallino when the grass is too tall. Please return the flags to the tube; do not toss in among the ropes.
Finally in the left-hand trunk you will find a notebook which contains: the schedule, a list of teams identifying their T-shirt colors to facilitate locating your opponent when the field is dotted with teams; the list of captains and their contact info, a copy of the rules.
Also, within the notebook you will find blank waiver forms. League rules permit the occasional family or friend who is visiting to play along with you. That person is required to complete a waiver before doing so. We ask that upon completion you place the waiver in the front of the notebook for collection by the Commissioner.
